Electrical Technician

Atlantic Heat Treating 2001 Ltd Is looking for: Electrical Technician

Atlantic Heat Treating (2001) Limited is an expanding business that builds installs heat treating lines and heat treats metals for tool and die makers. The industrial processes involved in hardening and softening steels and other ferrous alloys require the use of large electrically controlled and measured furnaces, which operate at very high temperatures and require considerable maintenance. We therefore require an experienced Electrical Technician with in-shop experience with programming, conversion, maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical equipment, and particularly with heat treating equipment.

Academic: A trades certificate/diploma is required 

Work experience: A minimum of five years of in-shop work experience as an electrical technician is required, including a minimum of two years of experience with heat treating equipment (furnaces, thermocouplings, sensors, motors, and robotics). More specifically, the successful applicant must have experience with: 
•    robotic equipment and systems, electric motors, generators, drivers and motor controls, building systems, lighting systems, industrial processes, and programmable logic controllers (PLC);
•    both obsolete and modern electric and industry graded electronic equipment
•    electrically powered heat treatment furnaces, induction heating, electrical resistance heating (annealing, case hardening, and surface coating)
•    device drivers, networking hardware, Internet, programmable logic controller (PLC), MS Excel, MS Word, MS Windows

Duties and Responsibilities 

•    Assist in programming, design, conversion, testing, installation, maintenance, service, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment
•    Advise and instruct personnel in various heat treating techniques, and direct repair of malfunctioning equipment
•    Assist in inspecting, testing and adjusting electric components of heat treating equipment
•    Calibrate electronic heat treating equipment and instruments
•    Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications, and reports for heat treating projects 
•    Assist in building and testing prototypes to specifications 
•    Collect and compile operational data regarding the functioning of electrical heat treating equipment
